For hundreds of years, the performing art practiced in India by several ethnic groups, races and cultural teams has contributed to enrichment of Indian treasury of art. There is not a single region, a valley or mountain, a sea coast or a plain which does not have its characteristic forms of performing art. The most significant contribution of performing art has been to harmonize the people of different regions, race and creed. The art serves as an invaluable source of contemporary creativity and also plays a vital role in promoting social values and integration among the people of different regions. With this concept and national interest in mind the Centre for Cultural Studies & Development (CCSD) has been established in order to work for the promotion, documentation & research on various aspects of Indian Culture and related performing arts.
